Your tightly-packed vertical list here serves to show in my mind the point I made in the article you linked to the other day. How can so many wines smash up amongst each other right under that "magical" 90? I think a few deserve break-out status, but were held back by a publication that is still hesitant about the Finger Lakes in general.

Oh, well, it's all great press no matter what. Hopefully, over time, assessments will be less clear of bias. The Finger Lakes is really on the verge of getting more and more consistent and positive attention.

Lenn, It looks like you had a great time in F.L. I can't wait to read your reports. I have to agree that the ratings are frustrating, but there are some great wines listed. I guess all good things just take time.

Weekend Wino,

It's me, Jason Feulner, who made that comment. I forgot to fill in my name!

Imagine my surprise when I came to your blog tonight and saw that someone commented as me!

I'd actually disagree with the Lenn imposter...it's not "great press." It's ridiculous and ratings in the high-80s are barely worth promoting if I'm a FL winery. Sadly, most consumers want that "9" on the front before they are going to buy a wine they've never had before.

I'd also like to mention that I think an 85 for Ravines' 06 is just silly. I think it was one of my top two or three rieslings of our trip!

Sorry guys. I didn't catch Jason's correction right away.

Lenn, you rogue! Wino didn't know it was me who was writing as a contributor from LENNDEVOURS.

You know I'm trying to remain positive, but we are in complete agreement about the disservice of the scores.

Yes, the Ravines riesling is awesome!
