Finger Lakes News & Notes - Jan. 26 2008

Mrs Wino & I picked up some terrific bargains during the Seneca Lake Wine Trail's Bargain Bash weekends, like Wagner Alta B Blush for $3.99!!! Yessss!!! And as the days of winter draw on, the end of January lets me know that Spring is now not too far away. And I dream of those vats and barrels of Finger Lakes wine turning into delicious bottles that will be tasted soon. Ahhhhh.......

- This just in from NYWGF: At the San Francisco Wine Competition earlier this month "Swedish Hill Winery dominated the (New York) winners with both Best of Class accolades (White Doobie Blues and Viking Red), plus 4 of the Golds (those two plus 2006 Vidal Blanc 2005 Late Harvest Vignoles) and sister winery Goose Watch snagging a Gold for its Golden Spumante. Other Golds went to Chateau Lafayette Reneau 2006 Dry Riesling, Lucas Vineyards Two Boat Red, Prejean Winery 2006 Semi-Dry Riesling, and White Springs Winery 2006 Riesling Red Label." Many of My Favorites in this group, including that delicious Goose Watch Golden Spumante, made from the Diamond grape. See the complete competition results at
